Quilts made for gifts and for keeps!
The latest log cabin top finished August 2006.  I'm very pleased with the
results of all those skinny strips.  Left--before quilting.  Right photos--all done!
A Friendship Star for a friend.
Below:  A wall hanging in our library that took
hours and hours because I hand quilted it.

Below: A soothing one just for me. It
has a flannel back for extra snuggliness.
(below) A Log Cabin for Rachel...
She's a musician, so the wonderful woman who machine
quilted it, put yellow G-clefs all around the border.
The two Log Cabins below are Justin's.  He chose the
colors for the one on the left; he created the pattern
for the one on the right, from completed squares.
Tricky patterns are too hard to
remember when quilting time is
interrupted by parenting, so I've
made many ragged flannels in the
past few years.  They are so easy
to work on, even if I have just 10
minutes.

The one in the center is Rachel's.
It took us awhile to figure out the
block arrangement.
The one on the right was made for
a student having hard times.
Below is one for a friend
undergoing cancer treatments.
The one on the right is the lay
out of Justin's ragged flannel.
The squares are laid out, then
stacked and numbered by row.
I tape a photo of it by the
sewing machine to get it
together.
November 2006.  These three ragged flannels went to
Tennessee to comfort a family.   They served perfectly for
that hug-to-go I so desperately needed to give them.
Donated to a fund raiser for Band Boosters.
"Blankets
wrap you
in warmth,
quilts wrap
you in
love."
I had abandoned this one
after a small start because
with school and
everything  else it required
too much brain power.
But I  picked it up again
since all the pieces were
cut out.  I'm glad I did.
Once it was together I
found some of those 4
patches turned the wrong
way, but rather than tear it
apart to fix it, decided it
added character.
These represent some of what I've completed over the years.
Finished
June
2007--a
ragged
flannel for
Dana!
left: The perfect squares were left
over to make this snuggle size for
Kennedy.  Green for grass, blue
skies, and pansy gardens to
remind her of working the soil with
her mom.  (Oct.  2007)
Nov 2007--a wall hanging for Jenny!
Guess what she loves?
Aug 2007 (below) This ragged flannel is what I call a "couple's quilt."  It was made
for a couple I know who needed a hug.  The back is a totally different pattern than
the front!  One side for her, one side for him.  That was tricky, but worth it.
Dec 2007! (below) I call this Sunny Day!  It's the same pattern as the
sunflower quilt on the for sale page, but I made the strips and squares
smaller.  I think I may have to keep this one.  Totally done in April
2008!  I have another one planned.... see sales page.
This pattern called my name.
Look in the doors--those are
my horses in there. It's back
from the quilter's (she had a
blast doing this amazing job!)
and I just finished the
binding!  I do love this quilt.
One of kind, wouldn't you
say?
This was just finished-March 1, 2008.  It's called
Tree of Life and it's only 29.5" square.  I had to
be alert and focused to avoid errors, so it was a
vacation, weekend project.  I think I'll quilt
these myself.  I made two.  One is in Rachel's
apartment at college.
Gram died in May 2005, two days before she turned 95.  The
quilt I had made her (below) came back to me.  It stays on the
back of my chair at the sewing machine so I can feel close to her.
Gram loved the horses, so one is named in her memory:  Little
Church Remembers Rosa Adell.

The color idea for this one came from "The Quiltmaker's Gift, a
picture book that should be on every quilter's bookshelf.
I copied Diane's quilting design and made this one for Kennedy.
May 2008
Cats, for
Jenny!  It's
50" square.  I
quilted this
one! It looks
great in J's
home.
 Dec 08
My in-laws needed a wall hanging for a new empty space,
so I found some perfect fabric for the wine makers, and put
some logs around it.  Dec 2008
This is called "A Walk in the Park"  I've wanted to make it for
months.  I loved choosing the fabrics! (below) July 2009
Jenny claimed this one!

Below is a Civil War reproduction quilt for Mark!  He's
a CW nut, so it's perfect.  He chose the pattern.
Ragged flannels!!
'tranquilty'
Below is what I call a watercolor floral log cabin.  I've been
seeing it in my head for some time, and finally had time to make
it real.  Deciding on a lay-out took a while, but what fun it was to
play with the blocks. There are endless options.  Top done-
August 2009! 84" square.   This one will be for sale!  $900  I'll
make more.  :-)  See sale page for more photos.
SOLD!
Below:
I call this one "'Black and White Splash!"  A few
quilting forum friends sent some black and white
pieces to help! Top done April 2009
Ragged flannel for my niece,
Caley,  and her new husband,
Justin.  Sept 2008.
And this one for Caley and Justin...
I had to do something with all those triangles
from making the flying geese in the CW quilt
above!  So, these will be made into a wall
hanging for Mark to hang at work.  Done!
(see left.)
Danish Hearts
Triple Irish Chain.
I call this one "Kayak on the Lake." I've done a
lot of research--from my kayak of course.  Sept
2009  Rachel claimed this one.
Nursery Rhyme Time!  I made
this and fell in love with it, so it's
a keeper.  It was fun to quilt.
Below is a wall hanging that was a LOT of
trouble.  I'm glad it's done!  Came out kind
of cute though. I made another for my
friend Angie and just completed three
double stall tops to donate and sell.
The left one was given to Mark in January '11.  The middle was a
2010 Christmas gift to Jenny, my new daughter-in-law; and the
right one was a Christmas gift for Rachel.  She requested a
second ragged  flannel--perfect for college.
These quilts are to welcome Aiden and Ava to the world!
Feb 2011--my first Bargello!  It was quite a ride to get
this together.  Picking the colors was a long process.
It's at the quilter's now. I have an idea for a
wildflower meadow one I'm eager to start.
I love to make
doll quilts with
the watercolor
floral log cabin
blocks.  These
already sold,
but I'm making
more!
Above:  A fun quilt-donated to the local
library where it was auctioned off to buy
books!
To the left is
"Thinking Outside
the Block."  This
will be donated
for an auction for
a horse rescue
place.
Feb '11  Below is a 30" wall hanging for
my friend, Irene.  To the right of it is a
doll quilt that will be for sale.  Both get
quilted this week!
I fell in love with this pattern at a quilt
show, but changed the colors.  This is a
gray quilt, with greens, blues, and dark
reds.  I had no idea what to do with it,
but Mark did. It's his now!
